On October 5th 2024, NC State Trooper Maness shot and killed Bonnie and Clyde while Lydia Nikac was subduing a suspect. The officer involved State Trooper Maness did not secure the area, called for no backup and exited his vehicle taking matters into his own hands. Instead of the officer helping Miss Nikac he took matters into his own hands and fired almost 10 shots, endangering the safety of civilians and also shooting at her K9s while they were running away.
Bonnie and Clyde posed no threat to Mr Maness and he confidently shot countless times while Miss Nikac was holding the suspect Kevin Bryan Toler on the ground who was breaking and entering into her vehicle on her property.
Officer Maness not only took the lives of her children from her, he also destroyed the business she worked so hard to build. Bonnie and Clyde were highly trained K9s and she was under complete control until Mr Maness showed up. Bonnie was made Miss Nikacs service dog, she spent every waking moment with her and she was her lifeline. The trauma induced by watching her beloved family members get executed has caused a ripple effect and has caused her existing condition to become worse than it already has. Miss Nikac not only suffers from PTSD, she also suffers from anxiety disorder, de-personalization/derealization disorder. Bonnie and Clyde have helped her work through her mental and emotional health for almost 4 years.
Bonnie and Clydes training started at the age of 11 weeks where she spent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with them training from morning until night. Bonnie was trained in Narcotics detection, tracking, articles, apprehension, AKC, agility, CGC (Canine Good Citizen), TDI (Therapy Dogs International), Protection Sports, Service work. Clyde was trained in explosives detection, tracking, articles, apprehension, AKC, TDI, CGC, and Protection Sports.
Miss Lydia has been training dogs for almost 30 years and she specializes in all facets of dog training. She has built her businesses from the ground up and had a passion for dogs her whole life.
